About
Robin is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law and Management, University of Mauritius. He is also a visiting Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Management, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He is presently reading for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at University of Waterloo, Canada (www.uwaterloo.ca) for which he has been awarded the International Doctoral Scholarship (Total value: CAN $ 100,000.00). His current research analyzes the interplay between citizens' power, their trust (distrust) in government, quality of life and political support for tourism and other economic development strategies. The research draws from the wider sociology and political science literature to develop a structural model investigating the interplay among the above factors.
Robin is an economist by academic training. He holds a Master of Philosophy (2011, University of Mauritius), supervised by Dr. Dogan Gursoy, Distinguished Professor at the College of Business, Washington State University, USA. Robin also graduated from a Master's degree in Tourism Management (2005), a Master's degree in Development Administration (2003), both from the University of Westminster, UK, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics (2001) from the University of Mumbai, India.
Robin is the Research Note Editor for the Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management (http://www.informaworld.com/1936-8631) and a reviewer for several Tier 1 tourism journals. His articles appear in leading tourism journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Tourism Analysis, Current Issues in Tourism etc. Robin has also presented several papers at international conferences. He is also a member of the Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA).
